As a key member of our leadership team, you will help to continually develop the results-driven initiatives that define our success and are transforming healthcare. 

 

The Director of Corporate Integrity and Regulatory Compliance is responsible for development and implementation of internal monitoring and auditing plans and strategies to assess current state of organizational operations and processes and to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, legislation, regulation, and internal policy related to accreditation, licensure, revenue cycle compliance, and internal operations. Development and implementation of risk assessment and compliance audit activities and integrated strategies for communication of expectations and reporting results are the key functions of this position, and include development of Board-level reporting.


 



  • Direct the Corporate Compliance Program for compliance with Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services billing rules, internal operations and regulatory requirements. At the direction of the Administrative Director of Safety, Regulatory Compliance and Corporate Integrity, provide regular updates to Senior Vice President of Quality and Compliance, executives, governance sub-committees, and Health System Board to review progress on program implementation and corrective action plans. Develop and communicate the multi-year strategies and objectives of the Compliance Program and report accomplishments.

  • Oversee development and implementation of compliance training plans and programs.

  • Coordinate Hospital, Ambulatory Clinic and Corporate departmental leadership in development and implementation of internal compliance program review and risk assessment processes, monitoring and auditing plans, corrective action plans and/or improvement activities.

  • Provide leadership to address complaints and concerns from internal or external parties, direct and coordinate necessary investigation and/or correction action plans with various departments or agencies and communicate progress to leadership. Develop policies and programs that encourage staff to report concerns without fear of retaliation

  • Access records relevant to compliance monitoring and auditing activities and report findings to internal committees. Maintain a log of regulatory communications and guidance received relevant to compliance.

  • Establish and communicate reporting strategies, procedures and reporting modes available (e-mail, voice mail, suggestion box, etc.). Coordinate unannounced mock surveys, inspections, audits and investigations periodically to assess staff and organizational readiness and to specifically identify where corrective actions are needed. Revaluate areas of previous deficiency to identify whether controls were implemented to control risk of non-compliance.

  • Responsible for budget development and management. Assure cost effective operations and allocation of resources while seeking efficient processes and appropriate resource allocation.

  • Contribute to the improvement of department processes utilizing tools and methods of VMPS.

Qualifications


  • A Bachelor's degree in business administration, health care or related field.

  • Ten years management experience or related experience in a health care or accounting practice, including at least two years in a management position providing direction and oversight of regulatory, revenue cycle and operational compliance management.

  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of current internal audit and regulatory compliance planning techniques and technologies as well as the methods used in performing risk assessment and internal audit.

  • Excellent project management skills and experience.

  • Strong human relations skills to interface with personnel at all levels within the organization and to work with outside vendors and regulatory agencies.

  • Excellent written and oral communication, negotiation and relationship management skills required as this role interacts with VM staff at all levels, clinicians, Board members and representatives of external regulatory bodies.

    Preferred qualifications include: Master's degree in health administration, business or accounting. Health Care medical service coding certification highly preferred. Experience with Lean methodologies preferred.
