2:00pm - 10:30pm, variable days of the week

The Supervisor is responsible for 24-hour supervision and overall operations of Central Service/Distribution functions, ensuring that distribution meets VMMC standards and provides exemplary customer services.
Supervises the day-to-day 24-hour operations of a Central Service/Distribution function in the assembly, ordering, and/or delivery of hospital or clinic instruments, equipment, and medical supplies.
Supervises and develops staff scheduling; provides leadership and direction and acts as a resource to staff for all daily operational needs; ensures staff completion of appropriate training and provides opportunities for continuing education and development for staff.
Provides management expertise for human resource issues within the department; recruits, hires, trains, disciplines, and performs performance evaluations and competency assessments; maintain and updates staff procedures manuals, staff training programs and quality assurance programs.
Assists manager and section head with budget development and management; assures cost-effective daily operations and allocation of section resource to optimize available staff with demand for service.
Assists with the development and supervision of "standard work" procedures for Central Service/Distribution; ensures department follows all local, state, national, and manufacturer regulations and best practice recommendations.
Maintains and develops positive Central Services customer service policies that produce quality outcomes; ensures hospital or clinic instruments are being reprocessed in a timely manner; ensures that VMMC staff are satisfied with all aspects of inventory and distribution.
Associate's degree or equivalent required. Must have a clinical background, preferably in the OR and solid understanding of Supply Chain management, medical supplies and terminology. Minimum 5-7 years experience with Supply Chain (Central Service Distribution/Inventory/supply management) to include a minimum of 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role, preferably within a hospital or medical center.
Demonstrated ability to meet productivity targets and engage staff in everyday lean and departmental initiatives. Ability to hold staff accountable; ability to meet deadlines and follow-through required. Demonstrated customer service, interpersonal, organizational, and oral and written communications skills. Additionally, this position requires effective problem solving and training skills. Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word applications. Must complete "VMPS for Leaders" course within first year.
Preferred experience and knowledge are: Surgical Technician and/or surgical supply, advanced knowledge of the inventory control programs (Windows), Perpetual Automatic Reordering (PAR) reduction program, Oracle system, and SSI.
