Manage 24-hour operations of VMMC distribution function. Develop and implement financial goals and objectives consistent with strategic plan of unit and hospital. Provide leadership and serve as resource to ensure day-to-day operations occur efficiently and effectively for department and hospital areas served; assists VM teams in the implementation of new supply chain programs; monitors and tracks the success of the engagement utilizing specific performance indicators; coordinates on-site teammates in their need to implement departmental service quality improvement initiatives in concurrence with a supported hospital or system. Manages and directs supply chain efforts and is responsible for third party linen management company. Perform human resource management and manage operating and capital budgets for department. Provide training, implement best practices and ensure department follows all applicable state, local and federal regulations.
1. 20% - Manages the daily 24-hour operations of a Distribution function in the setting up of locations for supplies, ordering of supplies, and/or delivery of hospital medical supplies.
2. 20% - Develops and implements Distribution Operations specific customer service, human resource, and financial goals and objectives consistent with VMMC's strategic plan and goals.
3. 20% - Provides leadership and acts as a resource to supervisors and departmental staff to ensure smooth operations of the day-to-day activities; and ensuring operational goals and customer needs are met.
4. 15% - Performs all aspects of human resource management, including recruitment and retention, analyzing staff mix and deploying staff, ensuring competency of staff through development and regular evaluation, and providing disciplinary counseling.
5. 10% - Manages, develops, and monitors the operating and capital budget making adjustment as needed to stay within budget guidelines; reviews and reports significant variances.
6. 5% - Provides training to staff on the Matkon system and on proper inventory management procedures; provides accountability for the management of Central Services' inventory; ensures that the distribution staff are trained in Omnicells and Par supplies.
7. 5% - Ensures hospital or clinic instruments are reprocessed appropriately and in a timely manner. 8. 5% - Ensures Central Services department follows all local, state, national, and manufacturer regulations and best practice recommendations. Ensures that satellite clinics are following VMMC established policy and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires a Bachelor's degree or the equivalent thereof and 5 years of Central Service Processing or Inventory/Supply Management experience to include supervisory or management role, preferably in a hospital or medical center. Demonstrated customer service, interpersonal, organizational, and oral and written communications skills. Additionally, this position requires effective problem solving and training skills. Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word applications.
May require extensive knowledge of computer inventory management system, or Central Services Technician Certification depending on area of concentration.
Preferred requirements are Surgical Technician and/or surgical supply experience; and Matkon, SSI experience.
